Nordco Rail Services uses state-of-the-art ultrasonic testing technology developed by industry leader Dapco Industries, another member of the Nordco Family of Companies.
Our equipment is continuously updated with the latest developments in transducers, electronics, software and defect detection.
Inspection Vehicles
Our rail inspection vehicles are hi-rail bound for ease of clearing track. Test vehicles offer testing speeds of between 15 and 20 mph, with a top speed of 25 mph under optimal conditions. All trucks are insulated for non-signal response. A shunting system is available to operate all signals if desired. Test vehicles can operate at temperatures down to 0-degrees Fahrenheit; high temperatures do not affect performance. Each vehicle has an onboard water capacity of approximately 200 gallons.
Ultrasonic Systems
Our fleet of hi-rail inspection vehicles incorporates the RTS 400 system. The instrumentation includes the most advanced VSH detection available and the latest developments in adaptive pattern recognition. The RTS 400 system has six roller search units per truck, three on each rail with an array of 15 crystals per side. Our newest addition to the roller search units includes a patent pending deployment of angular arrays that have proven to be superior in detecting transverse defects under subsurface shells, especially on the extremely critical gage corner of the railhead. Test results are stored in a digital database with GPS tagging for accurate record keeping and quality control.
